Knowsley Central School is a special school in the Knowsley Local Authority that currently provides specialist education for 149 primary aged children aged 4 – 11 with severe and/ or profound learning difficulties.

With effect from September 2026, our school pupil numbers will increase to support SEND in the borough.
In school’s most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025, school was judged as “outstanding” which is our 6th consecutive ‘outstanding’ judgement. The report includes statements such as:
- Pupils rush excitedly into school, warmly welcomed by staff, when they arrive each morning
- Pupils enjoy exceptional relationships with staff.
- This school never stands still. It is relentless in continually improving experiences forpupils to make sure they are offered the very best education.
- All staff receive frequent, high-quality training. This has, for example, developedleadership at every level across the school.
- Parents and carers are effusive about the school. They typically said that staff at theschool are ‘amazing’ and ‘go above and beyond’ in all that they do for their children and their families.
